Isoproterenol (Isoprenaline, Isuprel, Medihaler-Iso)
Indications
- Symptomatic Bradycardia (see xxxx, [[xxxx]])
Pharmacology
- β1-Adrenergic Receptor Agonist (see β1-Adrenergic Receptor Agonists, [[β1-Adrenergic Receptor Agonists]])
- Positive Chronotropy with Increase in Blood Pressure) -> increased cardiac output
- Positive Inotropy (with Increase in Blood Pressure) -> increased cardiac output
- β2-Adrenergic Receptor Agonist (see β2-Adrenergic Receptor Agonists, [[β2-Adrenergic Receptor Agonists]])
- Bronchodilation
- Vasodilation (with Decrease in Diastolic Blood Pressure): via effects on β2-adrenergic-receptors in arteriolar smooth muscle
- TAAR1 Agonist: effects at this receptor resemble those of trace amines (such as tyramine)
