  • Predicted Maximal Heart Rate: 200-age (in years)

Treatment

  • Treat Underlying Etiology
  • Pharmacologic Therapy
    • Agents
    • Cautions
      • In setting of CHF (where stroke volume is limited), CO may be dependent on rapid heart rate -> pharmacologically “normalizing” the heart rate can be detrimental
      • In setting of hypovolmeia (or any compensatory sinus tachycardia), pharmacologically “normalizing” the heart rate can be detrimental
