Etiology


Clinical

  • Fever (see Fever, [[Fever]]
  • Painful Oral, Facial, and Nasal Skin Lesions or Vesicles (see Vesicular-Bullous Skin Lesions, [[Vesicular-Bullous Skin Lesions]])
  • Palmar/Plantar Skin Lesions or Vesicles: rarely pruritic in childhood cases, may be pruritic in adult cases
  • Buttock Skin Lesions or Vesicles: may be present in young childhood cases
  • Headache
  • Irritability: common in children
  • Fatigue/Malaise
  • Vomiting/Diarrhea
  • Anorexia
  • Flaccid Paralysis/Meningitis/Encephalitis/Acute Lung Injury/Diffuse Alveolar Hemorrhage: rare
