Indications

  • Hypertriglyceridemia (see Hypertriglyceridemia, [[Hypertriglyceridemia]]): indicated for severe hypertriglyceridemia (triglycerides >500 mg/dL)

  • Ethyl Esters of Omega-3 Fatty Acids (EPA + DHA): fish sources

  • Possibly Increased Risk of Recurrence of Atrial Fibrillation/Flutter in Patients with Paroxysmal or Persistent Atrial Fibrillation (see Atrial Fibrillation, [[Atrial Fibrillation]] and Atrial Flutter, [[Atrial Flutter]]): especially in the first 2-3 mo of therapy

Dermatologic Adverse Effects

  • Pruritus (see Pruritus, [[Pruritus]])
  • Rash

Gastrointestinal/Hepatic Adverse Effects

  • Constipation
  • Dyspepsia
  • Elevated LFT’s/Transaminitis
  • Eructation
  • Taste Changes
  • Vomiting (see Nausea and Vomiting, [[Nausea and Vomiting]])

Hematologic Adverse Effects

  • Platelet Dysfunction (see Coagulopathy, [[Coagulopathy]]): due to impaired platelet aggregation
